Formerly incarcerated teacher brings The Transformation Project to NCYF
On Sept. 1, Danny Madrid visited the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF).
Madrid was formally incarcerated and now teaches at UNO and UNL in Criminology and Criminal Justice. He is one of the role models for change for the Transformation Project, which helps incarcerated individuals develop a foundation for learning and motivation to change through a process of self-reflection and goal setting.
Madrid met with the incarcerated youth to tell his story, and he will be helping them paint a mural. Youth had the opportunity to draw what they believed should be on the wall, and have met weekly to put the mural together. The mural will be used for picture days and family visitations.
