Taggart Boyd

Deputy Assistant Director

Taggart Boyd was appointed deputy assistant director in February 2025. In this role, he oversees agency security and emergency preparedness, as well as serves as executive project manager for multiple NDCS construction projects.

Prior to this role, Boyd was warden at the Reception and Treatment Center (RTC) since 2017. He brings significant experience leading correctional construction projects, including the merging of the former Diagnostic and Evaluation Center and Lincoln Correctional Center into RTC, which was completed in 2022.

Boyd began his corrections career in 1998 as an officer at the Marion Correctional Institution in Marion, Ohio. His positions with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction included case manager, unit manager, inspector, accreditation manager, associate deputy warden and deputy warden of operations.

A hockey enthusiast, he draws on the sport’s team mentality in his leadership style.

“Similar to hockey, corrections is about building relationships and trust with our teammates, with our population, and with the public,” he said. “We begin by setting a foundation and building around it. It takes everyone on the team to have a successful season and every season we try to get better.”

Warden Boyd holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from The Ohio State University.
