As the assistant deputy director – intelligence and investigations, Rich Cruickshank leads the Central Office Criminal Intelligence Unit and all facility intel teams. He is responsible for the creation of multiple programs within the Intelligence and Investigations Division and oversees the agency's criminal investigators and PREA coordinator.  

Cruickshank began his NDCS career in 1983 as a corrections officer at the Nebraska State Penitentiary. During his four decades with the agency, he has worked in multiple capacities at five NDCS facilities, including serving as warden at four facilities. He has also assisted with the development of NDCS special teams and worked as a trainer at the Staff Training Academy. In addition to his years at NDCS, Cruickshank served our country for 36 years in the Marine Corps and the Nebraska National Guard.

Cruickshank earned a bachelor's degree in public administration from Doane College and holds multiple certifications as a trainer, instructor and consultant.
