As legislative coordinator, Marcus Miles tracks proposed legislation impacting the department while working to advocate for new legislation that will further the mission and strategic plan of NDCS. Through collaboration with legislators and other community stakeholders, Miles works to advance the vision of NDCS.

Miles brings extensive experience in the justice system, having worked in both residential facilities and probation departments in Nebraska and Colorado. He served on the Juvenile Community Re-Entry Board and managed the Juvenile Intensive Supervision Program in Colorado Springs, overseeing supervision of the highest-risk juvenile offenders. Most recently, he worked as a youth security supervisor at a youth treatment facility in Lincoln. 

Miles spent time as a paid intern at the United States Department of State within the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs-Regional Security and Policy team, covering the bureau’s congressional affairs profile. He looks to utilize his experience to support the vision and strategic plan of the NDCS, continuing reform and building relationships with local lawmakers.

Miles earned a bachelor’s degree from the University at Albany in Albany, New York, where he lettered in football and proceeded to play seven years of professional arena football. In summer 2024, he will complete a master’s degree in public administration.
