Visit | Community Corrections Center - Lincoln

Keeping relationships strong during incarceration is important to rehabilitation and successful reentry. Each of our nine facilities have designated space for individuals to connect with family and friends during visits.

If you have a friend or family member incarcerated at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, please utilizes this preregistration process to schedule a visit. 

Tecumseh State Correctional Institution

The Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) was established by LB 150 in 1997. In the spring of 1998 a site two miles north of Tecumseh was selected for the institution and ground was broken in December of the same year. Hiring of initial staff commenced in late spring 2000. TSCI began accepting inmates in December 2001.

TSCI has a ten-bed skilled nursing facility, clinic exam rooms, on-site x-ray, medical laboratory, optometry, and dental.

Omaha Correctional Center

The Omaha Correctional Center (OCC) is located on a 37-acre site in East Omaha, just south of Eppley Airfield. The OCC was opened April 24, 1984 with a design capacity of 240 inmates at a total cost of approximately $17 million; today the facility has an operational capacity of 766 inmates in double, and multiple occupancy rooms. In 1994 an additional housing unit brought the design capacity of the OCC to 396 inmate beds.

OCC has been accredited by the American Correctional Association since 1986.

Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility

The Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF) is a male correctional facility with general population adult housing units in addition to specialized housing for youthful offenders adjudicated as adults.  NCYF is a maximum, medium and minimum security facility. The buildings encompass approximately 54,000 square feet with a construction cost of approximately $10.8 million.

NCYF has been accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA) since 2000.

Nebraska Correctional Center for Women

NCCW began operation in May 1920 through an act of the Nebraska Legislature establishing the “State Reformatory for Women.” The original facility included a two-story farmhouse that was used as an inmate dormitory and later as the superintendent’s residence.  Two additional three-story brick dormitory buildings were added in 1924 and 1926, both of which are still in use today as program areas.

Community Corrections Center - Omaha

The Community Corrections Center-Omaha is a community-based facility that houses male inmates that are classified as Community A and Community B custody inmates. The facility has 63 beds designated for male inmates assigned to the work detail program and 116 beds available for male inmates participating in the work release program.

Community custody is the lowest custody level and the least restrictive environment. Individuals assigned here participate in "work detail" or "work release."

Community Corrections Center - Lincoln

In the fall of 1967, Legislative Bill 569 created the Work Release Program. It allowed a select group of inmates to be employed in the community and housed in the institution during non-working hours. A community residential program was established in 1971. The fall of 1991 saw construction begin on a new institution, which opened in July 1993 with four housing units (three male and one female).  A 100-bed men’s transitional housing unit was added in 2017, and a new 160-bed female living unit opened in 2019. CCC-L can currently house 500 men and 160 women.
