TSCI inmate death

October 9, 2026 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – Dennis Schneider #217187, age 78, died today at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). 

Schneider’s sentence began on August 30, 2023. He was serving a 25-to-30-year sentence out of Lancaster County for attempted first degree sexual assault of a child.  

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, Schneider was being treated for a medical condition.  As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS), a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
