RTC inmate death

September 26, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Steven Murray #56873, age 74, died today at the Reception and Treatment Center. 

Murray’s sentence began on May 8, 2002. He was serving a life sentence for first degree murder.     

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, Murray was being treated for a medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS), a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
