We are delighted to recognize the Hospice Volunteer Program Work Group for the One Team, One Vision Award! This program, initiated by Lori Palik and a multidisciplinary team including Nicholas Neujahr, Jason Geerdes, Christina Harvey, Robert Rucker, Kortni Igel, Amy Rezny, Jammie Harms, Eric Staiger, and incarcerated volunteers, provides compassionate care in a challenging environment. Through a 10-week training, volunteers are prepared for hospice care, finding the experience transformative and providing purpose. Patients receive comfort and dignity, and families are grateful for meaningful end-of-life connections. A departmental video by Caralea Strayer and Dayne Urbanowsky raised the program's profile, gaining national attention, and Jennifer Hope further expanded media coverage. This collaborative effort, including Marilee Malcom of the Nebraska Hospice and Palliative Care Association, demonstrates incredible teamwork and dedication, fostering dignity, rehabilitation, and community reintegration.
