Office of the NDCS Chief Inspector releases second semiannual report
April 27, 2026 (Lincoln, Neb.) – The Office of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Service (NDCS) Chief Inspector has released its second semiannual report covering July 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025. This report provides a summary of the reviews, inspections, investigations, and analyses conducted to support effective internal oversight and advance the NDCS mission to keep people safe.
“Data and transparency help us stay focused on what matters most,” said Director Rob Jeffreys. “Our work comes down to two things: keeping people safe and helping individuals build a stronger future after incarceration.”
The report includes data across key areas of NDCS operations — constituent services, grievances, disciplinary appeals, use of force, medical services, internal investigations, team member training compliance, and special investigations. This information is used to identify trends, strengthen accountability, and improve processes across the agency.
The Office of the NDCS Chief Inspector was established in 2024. Chief Inspector Geoff Britton is responsible for managing all constituent services, including inmate grievances and disciplinary appeals, as well as monitoring internal investigations and auditing agency policies and processes to ensure adherence to established best practices.
“As our second report, this represents another step forward in strengthening internal oversight across NDCS,” said Britton. “Each review and analysis builds on the last, helping us advance the NDCS mission to keep people safe.”
