Early this month, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Honor Guard team joined corrections representatives from across the country at the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) PROJECT 2000 XXXVII, featuring their Annual National Memorial Ceremony in Salt Lake City, Utah. This gathering recognized the men and women in the corrections profession who have lost their lives in the line of duty the preceding year and honored the bravery of those who survived an incident.
The NDCS Honor Guard team graciously accepted the CPOF Lifetime Sponsorship Plaques for Cornhusker State Industries and donated a $5,000 check for the NDCS Honor Guard Team to receive their lifetime sponsorship next year in our home state (Omaha, NE PROJECT 2000 XXXVIII). In addition to these lifetime memberships, the team donated $2,000 to the kids' room, which is a safe haven for the children of the fallen families and survivors of serious assaults attending the conference.
