Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF)

The Nebraska Youth Correctional Facility (NCYF) recently held its first 7th Step Symposium, with participants sharing their stories and speaking about what 7th Step and Intentional Peer Support (IPS) programs mean to them. Guest speakers included Keith Station, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Omaha Mayor’s office; Marcus Tayler, Captain of Omaha Police Department’s Gang Unit; community partner Teela Mickles; and community religious leader Bilal Nosilla. Certificates and awards were handed out to club members in recognition of their achievements.

7th Step is a club where participants can meet to discuss and work on issues such as drug use, family, and anger management. Intentional Peer Support (IPS) is a program that encourages individuals with similar life experiences to walk alongside each other in supportive relationships. Thank you to everyone who helped put on this event, and congratulations to the club and program members! #SecondChanceMonth #Programs #TRANSFORMNebraska
