Today, Corporal Kolby Baber’s name was added to the Nebraska Law Enforcement Memorial in Grand Island. Governor Jim Pillen delivered the keynote address, and law enforcement officers from across the state gathered to show their support and pay tribute.
Corporal Baber died on August 17, 2021, from complications related to COVID‑19 contracted in the line of duty. He began his NDCS career at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in 2012 and later transferred to Community Corrections Center–Lincoln. He was known for stepping up whenever needed, taking extra shifts, and leading with integrity.
We honor Corporal Baber for the dedication he brought to this profession and for the sacrifice he made in service to the State of Nebraska. #CorrectionsMonth #People #NeverForgotten
