Please note that messages cannot be relayed through staff to incarcerated individuals.

Why have I not heard from my family/friend who is incarcerated there?
Tablets are being distributed to individuals for communication purposes. This process can take up to three weeks to be distributed and programed upon arrival and they can communicate via messages and videos on GettingOut.com.
Until the tablet process is complete, communication through mail is a preferred option. If a money order is mailed in and funds are placed on the individual's account, the phone inside the housing unit can be used if the phone list is submitted and completed.

How do we communicate with an incarcerated individual?
Mail can be sent right away, please address it directly to the incarcerated individual. The incarcerated individual will need to submit a phone request with any numbers they want approved. This can take some time for approval.

How do incarcerated individuals get their medication?
To ensure that high-quality pharmacy services are available to the patient population within NDCS and that the administration of the pharmacy services are consistent with applicable laws and regulations. It is essential to have strict controls to ensure that patients receive only the medications prescribed in accordance with their individualized treatment plans. Our medical team will provide all medications and necessary equipment.
Do they have access to religious services?
- There are 21 NDCS accommodated religions at NDCS. Individuals have a variety of opportunities to exercise their religious beliefs with activities such as baptisms, bible studies, choir events, sermons and a variety of faith-based programming. Individuals living in community corrections facilities have access to religious services in the community as they prepare for a reentry.
What is the situation with older individuals in custody?
Our facilities utilize Mission Specific Housing, including clinical treatment housing units as well as non-clinical. How do I pick up property?
During normal business or visiting hours, come to the facility with a valid government ID and property can be picked up. You must be the person the incarcerated individual authorized to pick up the property in order to receive the property.
