Strengthen training, connect learning with real jobs, and improve outcomes for people returning to Nebraska communities.
This week, we kicked off Career Pathways in Manufacturing — an 18‑month initiative led by Metropolitan Community College (MCC) and NDCS, in partnership with the Vera Institute of Justice. Students can pursue manufacturing-focused pathways, including an Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Power and Process Operations Technology, a Manufacturing Process Operations certificate, and a pre-apprenticeship program, along with other education and reentry supports.
This project brings together partners from education, corrections, industry, and the community. They toured MCC’s South Omaha Campus, where students train for manufacturing careers, and later gathered for conversation about the project’s goals and participation.
Equipping individuals to succeed after incarceration is bigger than any one agency, and Nebraska’s community partners continue to prove what’s possible when people come together to support others.
