On Nov. 20th around 9 a.m., team members at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) made an Emergency Response Team (ERT) call for a “staff member down.” Team members responded to the area where Cornhusker State Industries (CSI) team member Rolande (Rolly) Nielsen Jr. had collapsed while escorting a CSI truck. When team members arrived on scene and assessed Nielsen, he had no pulse and was not breathing. They called 911, began CPR immediately and utilized an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The Community Justice Center completed its 52nd Restorative Justice – Victims Impact/Empathy (Life Skills) class at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC) for the restrictive housing unit on Nov. 2. One-hundred percent of participants rated the class as excellent. “It taught me all the skills I need to change my mindset, control and understand my emotions and my reaction to issues," one participant said.Read more
