Policy and Research Director


Jeffry Beaty, J.D., was appointed policy and research director in September 2013. Oversight of the policy and research division includes research administration, inmate records, policy development and accreditation. Beaty serves as the agency’s legislative liaison and is the agency's primary point of contact on policy and legislative issues.

Before coming to NDCS, Beaty worked as a policy analyst for the community corrections division of the Nebraska Crime Commission and served as the legal counsel to the Judiciary Committee in the Nebraska Legislature with a focus on criminal law.

In his work as an attorney, Beaty has focused on public policy analysis and development in the corrections and criminal justice fields. "Utilizing research and evidence to develop and manage policy is imperative to sound correctional operations," said Beaty.

He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska Law School and his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
